Everyone has a voice, and I'll throw hands to have yours heard.
"One cannot master a craft, for there is always more to learn. One can only master the ability to be taught."
(Klijah Mitchell)
My name is Klijah Mitchell. Since the age of 5 years old, I have had a passion to speak different languages. I have taken a variety of language classes such as Russian, Italian, Japanese, and graduated high school through a French immersion program . While in high school, I also discovered a new fascination with American Sign Language (ASL) and decided to teach myself the basics of ASL. As an adult, I am formalizing my education to become an ASL Interpreter. Currently, I am a US Army veteran with an associates degree in Interpreter Education from Blue Ridge Community College, NC. Now a student at Gallaudet University pursuing my B.A.I (Bachelors in Interpretation). While in North Carolina, I hosted local Deaf events in the Fayetteville, NC area. I now live in Washington, DC. With the support of my local Deaf community, I am continuously improving my skills in ASL and have developed a better understanding and appreciation for Deaf culture.
I possess a sharp eye for detail, which I use to bring to life on my hands. With my military background, I work well under pressure and adapt to any situation as they arise. I have strong interpersonal skills and work well with a wide variety of people.
